The Becket Arts Center offers a range of exhibits

Endless Summer

Showcasing local talent in the full scope of media, the Becket Arts Center in Becket, Mass., offers a range of exhibits this August. Vibrant collages using glass and watercolor by Nina Evans feature rich hues and bold, geometric shapes to form mosaic-like scenes; Glenna Evans shows richly colorful photographs of botanicals and musical instruments; and the mixed-media paintings by Rosalind Schneider transform images of nature to take on a more abstract aura. Also on view are multidimensional works by artist William Powers, who hand-carves wood into sleek sculpture and crafts jewelry incorporating locally found stones, and pottery inspired by ancient Chinese works by Andrew Quient. The historic setting of the 1855 Greek Revival-style Becket Arts Center makes for an intimate display of art from the region. [AUGUST 2010]
