In A Lucky Irish Lad, Kevin O’Hara tells the story of growing up a first-generation Irish-American in his hometown of Pittsfield, Mass., where he still lives. The book explores the ties that bound his close-knit family even during times of adversity, while capturing the small-town charms of New England life during the cultural explosions of the 1950s and ’60s.

 

Get a jump on St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, March 13, at 3, when the author reads from his book at The Clark in Williamstown, Mass., followed by—what else—a party featuring the homespun sounds of Celtic trio Dublin Porter and “traditional Irish refreshments.”—SR
