GALLERIES: Artist Lewis Scheffey

Featuring contemporary photography by established and emerging artists for the past five years, the Iris Gallery in Great Barrington, Mass., has always explored the breadth of the field. This winter the gallery adds a new dimension by taking a look at art outside of the camera lens, exhibiting a retrospective of paintings by Monterey, Mass., artist Lewis Scheffey.

Working primarily in oils and watercolors, Scheffey creates boisterous still lifes, wistful landscapes, and striking portraits in bright and mellow color schemes accented by bold lines. Scheffey?s work adds a new dimension to the Iris Gallery?s bevy of talent; longtime visitors will have something different to explore, while those new to the gallery can enjoy the dual beauty of the paintings and photography.
