Set on a wooded, three-acre property just off in West Stockbridge, Mass., this 1987 Adirondack-style lodge boasts numerous hand-built details. Renovated in 2007 to incorporate modern amenities and expanded to a total of seven rooms, the house includes three bedrooms, two of which are located upstairs with two baths and an open loft area. A first-floor master suite features a substantial bath, large walk-in closet, and direct access to one of the home’s two porches.

 

 

The chef’s kitchen features hand-built cabinetry, a slate floor, soapstone counters, a Viking range and refrigerator, and a Miele dishwasher and wine cooler, as well as access to a screened porch featuring mahogany floors, which is also connected to the great room.

 

Built using large lodge-pole pine logs from Montana, the house includes a massive stone fireplace of fieldstone gathered from nearby Tom Ball Mountain. Inside the great room, the hearth is flanked by built-in shelves under a cathedral ceiling with exposed beams. Several sets of French doors lead from the great room to the wraparound log-rail porch, with railings made by Great Barrington, Mass., artist Bradley Weatherup. $875,000 [OCTOBER 2010]
