Williams College Museum of Art has expanded its website

The folks at Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) have expanded its website, where visitors can now map out their own personalized tour through the museum’s entire permanent collection. Prendergast enthusiasts and Warhol fans alike will delight in scrolling through more than 13,000 works of art spanning the history of civilizations and cultures, all with the click of a mouse.

 

  From the WCMA home page, click on “Search Collections” and start a journey through art history: dive headfirst into some American contemporary art, bounce back to explore Egyptian artifacts, and round it all off with a little Roman sculpture. Visitors may browse the collection by predefined lists and groupings; alphabetically by artist or culture; by keyword or phrase; or via an advanced search of specific people or objects. Each work is presented with detailed information including artist, date, media, and an image, when available.[FEB/MAR 2011]
