(Lenox, Mass., Aug. 24, 2009) — As the exultant, whirlwind final outburst of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony resounded through the Shed and the adjoining lawn on Sunday afternoon, the storm clouds parted and, for a few minutes, brilliant sunshine illuminated the verdant landscape. Perhaps a sign of approval from above for Michael Tilson Thomas's heaven-storming, monumental performance of the Boston Symphony's perennial season-finale.
