Third Thursdays are back!
The once-a-month, freewheeling downtown street festival in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, is back for its third year with an innovative mix of music, art, street performances, and vendors, attracting patrons to the city’s burgeoning mix of restaurants, cultural hotspots, shops, and artist studios.
3rd Thursdays started as a cooperative effort among downtown businesses and arts organizations, led by the City of Pittsfield Office of Cultural Development; now more than fifty community partners are involved. 3rd Thursday festivities are held on North Street from 5 to 8 p.m., but often continue later into the evening.
The season continues on June 18 with a green theme, in collaboration with the first-ever Pittsfield Green Expo, which aims to inspire environmentalism among residents through panel discussions and product demonstrations; July 16 is all about pirates; August 20 celebrates the fortieth anniversary of the Woodstock Festival; September 17 will be a surprise; and October 15 focuses on jazz in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the Pittsfield CityJazz Festival.
