The Burger Diaries: A Turkey in Colorado

Bird is the Word: The Larkburger Little Turkey

While at a conference in Colorado I stumbled upon a hip, urban archetype of the Berkshire vibe. Larkburger is a small, fast-paced eatery serving up a select array of all-natural, wind-powered variations on the American classic.

The menu includes the Larkburger (black angus), the Truffle Burger (Larkburger with truffle aioli), the Turkey Burger, the Tuna Burger, and the Amy Burger (roasted portabella and grilled onions). Additionally there are the Little Lark and the Little Turkey, which are half the size of the originals, leaving plenty of room for Larkburger’s crispy hand-cut russet potato fries and their popular Five Dollar Shake.

I opted for the Little Turkey, fries, and a strawberry shake, the perfect little meal—both filling and conscience-comforting.

Larkburger’s green view was reminiscent of home; the restaurant is 100% wind-powered, uses biodegradable and eco-friendly packaging, reuses their leftover canola oil to fuel employee cars, and of course, all natural ingredients.

I already know we’ve got comparable green-mindedness here in the Berkshires, now what about turkey burgers? With Thanksgiving on the horizon, what’s your favorite local place for a turkey burger?
